Tyrone Hartsfield was charged with attempted first-degree murder of Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier. Collier was in a car with a teammate when they were ambushed last year. As a result of the 6 bullets, Collier is now paralyzed from the waist down and part of his left leg was also amputated. Hartsfield claimed that Collier roughed him up at a nightclub in the past and his defense was that the prosecution basically had the wrong guy. The defense said that “Collier had many enemies and insist police did not conduct a meaningful investigation” (In Session Blog). The prosecution on the other hand state that Hartsfield was out for revenge. The fact that he was a convicted felon didn’t help his case.

Verdict: A jury found that Hartsfield was guilty of attempted first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison.
